Dr Jessie Zhu is a Fellow of the RACGP (FRACGP) with an Advanced Diploma in Obstetrics and Gynaecology (DRANZCOG Adv.). During her time as a rural generalist obstetrician in Queensland, she worked across both general practice and hospital settings, supporting women from preconception and pregnancy through to labour, birth, and the postnatal period. Her experience includes managing both routine and complex pregnancies, performing caesarean sections, and caring for mothers and newborns beyond delivery.
In addition to pregnancy care, Dr Zhu has a strong interest in contraception, cervical screening, sexual health, and general women’s health. She is highly experienced in hormonal and copper IUD insertion and removal, as well as Implanon insertion and removal. She performs procedures with an emphasis on efficiency, minimising discomfort, and ensuring patients feel informed and at ease throughout the process.
Her rural practice also provided the opportunity to care for people of all ages and backgrounds across every stage of life, shaping her holistic approach to general practice. This breadth of experience allows her to provide evidence-based care with a strong focus on safety, clear communication, and shared decision-making.
Outside of medicine, Dr Zhu is a mother to a toddler and appreciates the practical realities of pregnancy and parenthood. Having recently returned to her hometown of Melbourne, she enjoys building long-term relationships with patients and welcomes those seeking pregnancy care, women’s health services, or a trusted GP for themselves and their families.
